Is Alexandria Virginia a good place to live?

Okay so i have a 80% chance of moving their this summer due to my step-dad getting a job offer and we might take it.. but im from new york ive been to dc once and i dont know anything about Virginia i herd people are really racist and im not racist at all so is it a good place to live or will i not get along with any one im also starting 10th grade to --_-- and im moving so great..
