Really itchy sunburn after putting regular lotion on?

We didn't have aloe vera lotion. My sunburn on my back was very dry. My mother said any lotion would sooth it. Well, the lotion we used, had a irritant in it, we found that out the hard way. I tried a anti itch cream, nothing, I did vinegar it helped for a few hours, and if I keep a wet wash cloth on my back, it keeps it under control, but once I take it off, it itches badly. Does anyone know a hone remedy or anything to get rid of the itching? It leaves me in pain, and I want it gone. Thanks in advance
